Lovers’ Moon
I bathe myself in lovers’ moon so that gardenia flowers will grow out of my temples
And lovers will circle my nipples
As if that will make more white roses sprout from my chest
You’ll remember me when you’re in the garden
With other flowers and perfumes
And an idea catches your nose and invites you over
You’ll remember me when you turn corners to see who’s selling melodies wrapped in
Painted cardboard
You’ll smell lovers’ moon and think back twenty years
Thinking we should’ve gone to the backseat so that we could speak and sleep and maybe whisper the daily news to each other
As you caress my thigh with your gentle violence
And you smile
So wild
At my indulgence
Kiss me
And bury your ancestry in my neck where the flower still blooms
Inviting nobody but you
