hanabiko
sweet mother—
baby-made
finger paint display
carted out, presented whole
to mommy made
newspaper clippings.
fuzzy microphones jutted out
into the menagerie
but baby whimpers sound like song
and mommy made dialects.
eyes carved on window panes,
divisive—
isolated.
they dwell at home on concrete walls
instead of pastures that they’re made in—
supposed to be: baby-made, baby arboretum
but mommy made award shows
trophies
and she will not concede them.
she will not concede them.
mommy made you
mommy::hero
fingers too big for speaking
mommy says them,
mommy sees them.
lynched on a tripod,
gored by the limelight,
eating whole and eaten raw:
digestible is the spectacle.
and, when you’re gnawed completely,
totally to the bone,
they’ll raise your skull on telecasts,
present you to the home
you knew
perhaps not what you wanted;
smartest chimp to ever live,
to ever be forgotten.
