Naked
Front Yard, 1996, Lida Suchy
in the
front yard
I have roots that stretch
into the hands of
the river
that flows
in between
our lips
roots
that strictly binds our legs
together
Watch
my grievances
flow free as the
leaves
keep
falling
into a hollow
place of murk
The swarms
of mosquitoes
and gnats
clouding
my sight
the thorn of
performance
itching
at the bite
Feel my
branches
break underneath
your
fingertips I am
naked
in the front yard.
