Rachel Hall | Faculty Advisor

Rachel Hall is the author of Heirlooms (BkMk Press, 2016) which was selected by Marge Piercy for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Book Prize. Her stories and essays have been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including Crab Orchard Review, Gettysburg Review, New Letters, Guernica Daily and LitHub. She teaches creative writing and literature at Geneseo where she holds two Chancellor’s Award for Excellence–one for teaching and one for creative work.


Nicole Callahan | Managing Editor

Nicole Callahan is working towards a degree at a college. She has done some things, does other things currently, and would like to do still other things in the future. When she isn’t in one place, she can often be found at another. She loves certain books, foods, and activities.

 


Natalie Hayes | Managing Editor

Natalie Hayes is a junior English (creative writing) major and film studies minor, though she intends on graduating by the end of the year. She is from the Hudson Valley and loves nothing more than making things—pies, paintings, pictures, poems, publications, and plenty more. Also, Natalie believes in and is constantly looking for magic; this excursion into editing, she reckons, is no exception. If you’re lucky, you might find her hanging bubble wrap and blown-up condoms in an elevator somewhere under the guise of art.


Elana Evenden | Art Editor & Fiction Reader

Elana Evenden is a senior English (literature) and art history major at SUNY Geneseo.  She is from Schenectady, New York and is very passionate about black cats, traveling, food, and a good book.

 

 


Cal Hoag | CNF Editor 

Cal Hoag is a senior communication major with a minor in English. He is also pretentious as hell, so when participating in writing and writing-adjacent activities he likes to use his initials. He looks forward to pursuing a career in online journalism or publishing after graduation. Look out for his bylines in the Geneseo school paper, The Lamron. Go Bills!

 


Lillian Simons | Poetry Editor

Lillian Simons is a writer from the East End of Long Island. She has managed her high school literary magazine Seascapes and has also been published in the Southampton Press (27East). In addition, Lillian has also been published numerous times in The American Library of Poetry’s yearly poetry publications. She has worked with the Southampton edition of National Public Radio (WPPB NPR) where she talked on-air with local guests and sat in on interviews. Lillian is interested in creative non-fiction and poetry and hopes to publish in both genres in the future.


Rebecca Williamson | Fiction Editor

Rebecca is a junior English (creative writing) and communication double major at SUNY Geneseo. She enjoys reading, writing, and editing which is most definitely how she ended up working on Gandy Dancer. Catch her never sleeping because any free time she has (which is almost never) is spent scream-singing or hanging out with her friends.

 


David Beyea | Public Relations & CNF Reader 

David Beyea is a senior English (literature) major. He has a vested interest in the profound, the superficial, and the occult. Find him gallivanting through the woods on a crisp autumn day, or perusing the local movie rental store for a nice Tarkovsky to ease his mind. Just don’t tell him those stores don’t exist anymore, you’ll break his heart.

 


Sandy Brahaspat | CNF Reader 

Sandy is a senior English (literature) major at SUNY Geneseo. She’s from Queens, New York and loves boasting about the diversity of her beloved borough. She enjoys reading real stories (particularly those from marginalized voices) that broaden her worldview and challenge the status quo. In her free time, she can be found curled up on the couch with a hot cup of chai while watching film adaptations of her favorite novels. 


Julia Caldwell | Poetry Reader

Julia Caldwell is a senior English (literature) major and Communication minor at SUNY Geneseo. She is from Poughkeepsie, New York, and swims for the Geneseo Swimming and Diving team. After graduation, Julia hopes to find a job that combines her passion for travel and hospitality.

 


Jesper Chitsaz | Fiction Reader

Jesper Chitsaz is a sophomore English and political science major at SUNY Geneseo. In his spare time, he enjoys buying books he’ll forget to read and being with dogs. He hopes to pursue publishing after graduation.

 


Emma Corwin | Fiction Reader

Emma Corwin is a senior English (creative writing) major at SUNY Geneseo. After she graduates in December, she plans to work as an editor and finally focus on writing a novel. She loves driving too much for her wallet’s own good, watching weird French movies, and pretending to know the lyrics to her favorite anime songs.

 


Aliyha Gill | Poetry Reader 

Aliyha Gill is a junior psychology and English (creative writing) double major at SUNY Geneseo. When she isn’t writing either opinion pieces for The Lamron or poetry for no good reason, she’s snuggling with her black cat. Aliyha aspires to become the next Sylvia Plath.

 


 Spencer Iovoli | Fiction Reader

Spencer Iovoli is an English (creative writing) major from Rochester, NY. When he isn’t reading or writing, he can be found playing D&D with friends or enabling his pets to distract him from reading or writing.

 


Randall Lombardi | CNF Reader

Randall is a senior English (creative writing) major, anthropology minor from Long Island New York. He aspires to one day be a published author. He is excited to work on Gandy Dancer and see the publishing selection process first hand.

 


Joshua Mora | Poetry Reader 

Josh Mora is a sophomore majoring in English and Theater. An aspiring poet and playwright, he is from Queens, New York. His favorite genre is poetry. Josh also enjoys acting and singing; he is looking to pursue a career in the arts after graduating.

 


Emma Raupp | Poetry Reader

Emma Raupp is a junior English (literature) major at SUNY Geneseo. When she’s not contemplating the foibles of humankind for a class, she’s experiencing them first-hand through her hectic and humbling retail job. It would not be unusual to find her reading Nietzsche behind the check-out counter.

Joshua Rogers is a serial daydreamer and an English (literature) major at SUNY Geneseo. His love for art and writing has been fostered by a steady supply of tea and quiet. You can find him in the forest.

 

 


Troy Seefried | Fiction Reader

Troy Seefried is an English (creative writing) major. His interests include writing fiction, finding hidden parks throughout upstate New York, and reading mysteries that feature an animal sidekick. After graduation he plans on pursuing his lifelong dream of opening a pug ranch where he can find peace and pen mystery novels.

 


Rickie Strong | CNF Reader

Rickie Strong is a senior English (creative writing) major and film studies minor. He’s passionate about movies, specifically the screenwriting process, and hopes to write and direct in the future.

 

 


Juniper Tremper | Poetry Reader 

Juniper Tremper is a mathematics major with double minors in English (literature) and linguistics. She’s working on her multilingualism, casual use of “y’all,” and encouraging STEM and English majors to realize how much logic there is in English and how much language there is in math.

 


Alaina Walier | CNF Reader

Alaina Walier is a senior majoring in English (literature). She has no idea what to do with her life after college and panics whenever she is faced with the question. When she isn’t spending forty-five minutes unpacking what the author meant by the word west, she enjoys silence, cold weather, and Kit-Kats.

 


Toby Youngman | Fiction Reader

Toby Youngman is a senior history major at SUNY Geneseo with a minor in English. A creative dabbler, you can usually find him performing around campus, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or writing surreal poetry about Elvis.
